Even by the likes of venture capitalists<\/a>, which screams desperation from an asset class that detests operations even more than private equity Excel jockeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The logic – assuming finance bros knew how to do anything useful – is pretty solid:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Take a business that’s crossed product-market fit and has meaningful distribution and improve the economics using technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Some of the wealthiest people out there have done this: taken a business in a “boring” industry, recognized that their competitors are complete nitwits, and out-executed them with a modicum of technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It takes time and effort, but it ain’t exactly rocket science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once you own the business, you no longer need to sell into someone who can’t count higher than three. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And incorrectly count, at that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Convince someone to use data to streamline operations?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Convince someone to use marketing and measure returns?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Convince someone to use software to automate tasks?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not a chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Look at how easy things get once you remove the troglodyte from the equation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This will become a growing trend as the amount of investible capital soars, with US public market capitalization now sitting at $60T<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Frankly, the moves are understandable: should the most advanced species our planet has ever known let the hangers-on determine their fate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Don’t think so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/reformingretail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-2.png?resize=770%2C770&ssl=1\")
