This poll is geared towards those that serve the (mostly SMB) restaurant industry to send to their restaurant customers, but we won’t keep restaurants from directly providing their results. For those suppliers that do decide to forward this along to their merchants, let us know and we’ll give you a link to the results. This is based on an honor code, though we’re sure there will be some twits that want the results anyhow.
Our goal is to better assess where the SMB segment of the industry finds itself. Have they successfully transitioned to standing up their own online ordering given the opportunity? Are they collecting customer data from the orders? What are they doing with that data? Do they feel that their operations are spiraling out of control or does it even matter how they’re performing relative to the market?
One of the silver linings in COVID has been the rush to first party e-commerce (i.e. online ordering) on the part of the restaurant industry. Many large chains didn’t even have the infrastructure to support this and we know several mega brands whose sales are up (think pizza and quick service) without the requisite data lakes to intelligently collect and transform the data.
Mind boggling, really.
The survey shouldn’t take more than a minute or two and is straight forward. Share away.
