We are frequently sought for our expertise around payments, point of sale (POS), transaction data, and brick and mortar operations.

As entrepreneurs, we’re always trying to make things better. Thus our approach to our services is the same approach to our own products: how do we best solve problems?

Accordingly we seek to understand what’s trying to be accomplished before committing to anything. This entails an assessment to better understand success, and what value will be produced. If the problem is not framed the right way, the solution is useless. The services we then render to remedy the problems are exclusively value-based.

Engineering Services

The authors at ReformingRetail are first and foremost engineers. This means we approach problems critically and put a lot of stock in objective measurements. Our teammatess have experience from the government’s most elite product development units to Silicon Valley’s most prominent startups.

Software product development. Heavy on distributed data pipes, machine learning, and Python, we eat our own dog food.

Data extraction. We are fluent in POS and payment data systems. If there’s data, we can get it.

Data science & analytics. Data by itself is useless. We know how to turn raw files into usable and actionable information. If you have a goal and data helps you reach it, we’re your Huckleberry.

Business Services

We’ve been fortunate to “cross the chasm” from engineering to business, with the last seven years immersed in the payments and POS industries. We spot trends early and help align resources to take advantage of market dynamics.

Market research. Our rolodex of industry executives and deep sector knowledge deliver insights that few would unearth.

Strategy & tactics. Choosing a path forward has only grown more difficult with the aggressive entrance of venture capital and murky boundary between POS and payments. The internet has (finally) disrupted conventional distribution leaving fewer viable options to success.

Distribution. The physical world is about distribution. Efficiently executing a distribution plan makes or breaks companies.

M&A thesis and advisory. The recalcitrance of brick and mortar has produced green field opportunities; tools and processes that have been well established elsewhere are still absent from the offline world. This leaves windows open for people that know where and how to look.
